Let's Get Dirty

So my friend, Robyn, (the one making googly eyes at me) talked us into doing "The Dirty Dash" with her.
I Thought we looked pretty cute when we headed out the door.
 And when we arrived.

But after a 3.1 mile muddy obstacle course we were looking a little, well, a little like this...
(don't mind my sunglasses that look like big dorky goggle on top of my head)

Getting muddy was a BLAST. Seriously, it was SO MUCH FUN!
Wow - I really look like I need a nap

cleaning up however; was not.

That water was FREEZING. No joke, painfully cold.
Miles thought it was hilarious watching three grown women screaming each time the water touched our skin.

Man, I have some awesome friends that talk me into doing some crazy, fun, adventurous things.
Even if Jana looks like she is thoroughly enjoying torturing me with that freezing cold water.

Discovering the Bliss that is Nutella

I ♥ Nutella.
It is creamy, chocolaty goodness that seems to make everything it touches better.
Miles has never tried this sweet concoction before. He was pleasantly surprised.

My mom came down to watch Miles today and made a pit stop at Costco (which is awesome in it's own right). Said trip resulted in a two pack of Nutella which she generously shared with us.  I decided Nutella and toast would make an excellent snack, but before I could finish spreading it on the bread this little stinker took the liberty of eating it by the spoonful.

The Bucket Bath

We have lived in our house for a month now, well, as of tomorrow anyway. Woo hoo!
That means that our bathroom (the one with the tub in it) has been torn apart for a month now. Boo!
Luckily for Gabe and I there is a functional shower in the basement, so at least we have somewhere to freshen up. Unfortunately, as Miles is not a fan of the shower we had to come up with another solution.
Thus the bucket bath was born.

Chatter Box

Miles talks all the time.
I mean all the time, all the time.
He says some of the funniest things.

The other day we were driving home after making
some big decisions (details to come later)
and I said to Gabe, "that was easy."
and he said, "yea, that really was easy."
Then we heard Miles pipe up in the back seat and say,
"Easy peasy wemon skeezy."
(easy peasy lemon squeezy - aunt morgan taught him this one)

Today I was sitting on the couch with Miles
before bedtime. This is the conversations we had.
Miles: Can I see your teeth?
Me: Big cheesey toothy smile.
Miles: Your teeth are wewow.
Me: Yellow? They're supposed to be white.
Miles: No they're wewow. You need to brush your teeth.
(I might be investing in some teeth whitening)

While we were driving to Cache Valley today
we past a few police cars with their overhead lights flashing.
Miles: Powice tars. WooWoo.

After biting his tongue.
Miles: Ouchy
Me: What happened? Are you okay?
Miles: I eat my teeth.
Me: did you bite your tongue?
Miles: Yea, wight here (picture cute boy with tongue sticking out).

Twilight in a Nutshell

Did I read the twilight books?
Yes.
No I'm not ashamed to admit it.

Did I like the twilight books?
Yes.
Probably more than a
27-year-old woman should admit.

I was team Edward all the way -
gotta love the thought of a man that's
had over 100 years to perfect himself.

Am I so obsessed with them that I can't
appreciate a good joke at their expense?
No.
I actually really enjoyed this "comic strip"
that my dad e-mail me today.

It really cracked me up.
Miles kept coming over to me and saying,
"What's funny mom?"

Who, What, Where, When...WHY?

Here is a glimpse into what our lives are like these days with a curious two year old.

The other day we were getting in the car when our neighbor drove past us in her car.
And this is the conversation we had during our 10 minute drive the store.

Miles: Who is it?
Me: That's our neighbor.
Miles: Where's the neighbor at?
Me: She drove away down the road.
Miles: Where's the neighbor at?
Me: I don't know, maybe she went to work.
Miles: Why?
Me: So she can make some money.
Miles: Why?
Me: So she can buy groceries.
Miles: Why?
Me: So she can make dinner.
Miles: Why?
Me: because we need to eat to stay alive.
Miles: Where's the neighbor at?

For about a week now this is a frequent conversation:

Miles: Hey Mom, guess what?
Me: What?
Miles: It's your birthday.
Me: It's not my birthday.
Miles: Why?
Me: Because my birthday is in March and it is July.
Miles: Mom, it's your birthday.
Me: Okay, are you going to throw me a party?
Miles: Why?
Me: Because birthday parties are fun.
Miles: Nope.

And another one of our favorites:

Miles: Hey Mom, what you do'n?
Me: I'm doing the dishes.
Miles: Why?
Me: Because there are so many they don't fit in the sink anymore?
Miles: They don't fit in the sink?
Me: Nope, so I need to wash them.
Miles: Why?
Me: So they will be clean and we'll have plates for dinner.
Miles: Why?
Me: Because we don't want to eat off the table.
Miles: Why?
Me: Because that would make a huge mess and I don't want to clean it up.
Miles: Why?
Me: Because I have enough messes to clean up.
Miles: Why?
Me: Because you and daddy are messy.
Miles: Me and daddy are messy?
Me: Yea.
Miles: Why?
Me: I don't know.

Anyway, if you ever catch me laughing quietly to myself
it's because I'm remembering one of these conversations.
I love my little guy and his never ending curiosity.

So Big

a few weeks ago we went exploring on the Legacy Parkway Trail.
It is a pretty sweet trail that stretches the length of Legacy Highway.

We made it to the bridge that crosses the highway and Miles
thought it was pretty awesome to look out and see all the cars
going underneath the bridge.
How sweet are my two boys?!
warning: if you use this trail bring bug spray - the mosquitoes are pretty bad.

Switching gears...

Miles has some pretty awesome Grandmas (and grandpas) that don't get to see him very
often so I thought we'd post a few videos. He is so grown up! Enjoy!!

Bubbles + Crayola=

One good time...
and one BIG mess!
My mom bought Miles these very blue bubbles.
I think they are meant for outside play, but they also
work really well in the bathtub.
They turn everything blue and Miles absolutely loves them!

Thanks Grandma!

I turn my back for 1 minute...

Miles is 100% boy. I'm pretty sure he is a mischief magnet, he seems to be drawn to everything he shouldn't be. It's hard to stay mad though, I mean look at that face.

"Gimme a Head of Hair, Long Beautiful Hair..."

One of our favorite things to do during bath time is play in Miles' thick head of hair. Gabe loves to come up with all kinds of fun do's.

THE PUNK ROCKER

THE DONALD

Every once and while Miles decides that he wants to get in on the fun. He is such a big boy and wants to do EVERYTHING all by himself.

The Best

I seriously have THE BEST FRIENDS in the world! We have all been friends since the 6th grade and I can't imagine my life without them. Thanks Jana, Bethany, and Robyn for being such great friends and examples. I love you all!

The four of us get together once a month for a night of yummy food and lots of laughs. This month it was my turn to host and I made this...

It was one of THE BEST cakes I've ever had! If you've never made RED VELVET cake I recommend that you head into your kitchen right this second. It will rock your world!
