Happy Birthday Dear Miles, Happy Birthday to You!!

My Sweet boy is ONE YEAR OLD!!

Stats:
20 lbs 13 oz (25%ile)
29.5 inches (50%ile)

We had a party for him on Sunday and it was so much fun!
For those that follow my blog you know Miles loves Nemo. So I thought it fitting for the theme of his party. I thought the cake turned out pretty great if I dare say so myself :).

He didn't really jump in at first, but his hesitation was super cute.

Once he figured it out there was no stopping him. He would forcefully say NUMMM after each bite. It was so funny!

You've gotta love the drunk baby pictures. It was too funny not to post.

I look like a freak in this picture, but I had to show off how wonderfully filthy he got. The picture doesn't show it very well, but he has orange icing hand prints on his pants.

I can't believe that he is a year old already. This has seriously been the fastest year of my life!
Here are the highlights from last month.

1. He started walking about a month ago and now he is running all over the place.
2. He says mom, dada, ama (grandma), aboo (boo), yum.
3. He will blow kisses and say mmma.
4. Holds my phone up to his ear - so cute!
5. plays peek-a-boo.
6. Throws a ball.
7. Gets really excited to see me when I pick him up from grandma's house.
8. Refuses to sit down and relax in the tub. He is always standing up and throwing things out of the tub - it's a really wet process, but oh so fun!
9. Gets the biggest smiles on his face when daddy comes home.
10. Bottom tooth #3 popped through. Total number of teeth, 7!

He is so much fun and seems bigger every day. He is the light of our live and we can't imagine life without him. Here's to another great year. We love you Miles Magoo.

One Week Down...

ONLY 27 TO GO!

The Next Stage

Today marks the beginning of the next "stage" of my life; my internship has officially begun.
I will be spending the next two weeks working with the USU extension office as part of my public health nutrition rotation. The majority of my time will be spent teaching nutrition education lessons to low income families and volunteering at other nutrition focused community agencies.
I have spent the last month stressing over the fact that I was going to have to leave Miles, but we both did so well. I was so nervous/excited about everything that leaving my son with his grandma didn't seem like such a big deal anymore. Miles did so great. I really don't think he missed me at all. He had so much fun playing with Zach (cousin) and all of grandma's toys that he didn't even notice I was gone. He ate well and took great naps, both of which I was worried about. It is such a relief to have that first day over with.
Now that I know that we can both "survive" being apart maybe the next 7 months won't be so bad?!

I Resolve...

1. to take better care of my body. Honestly, it is high time I start practicing what I preach.
2. to be more cheerful, patient and positive. Really I just want to be someone people want to be around and say nice things about when I die.
   
3. to serve others. I would really love it if I could show Miles the joy that comes from service.
   
4. to give my family all the love I have. They do so much for me and I often feel they deserve more than I give. They are my world and I should treat them as such.
5. to have more confidence in myself. This one will be the hardest for me. "I think I can, I think I can..."

Here's to a new year!
