Reflux Relief...

I don't know if I have mentioned this yet or not, but Miles has had severe reflux for the past month. We went to the doctor and determined that this was at the root of all his fussing. His doctor told us that he was almost positive that it wasn't colic, but reflux that was making him such a miserable baby. He would vomit (and I mean projectile) several times after each feeding and then scream until he fell asleep or could eat again.
Anyway, the doc gave us some medication for it and we left with high hopes. We did see a slight improvement, but not the drastic effects we were hoping for. After he had been on the medication for about three weeks we started noticing that he was not napping well during the day (luckily he still slept great at night), if he did sleep it was a very restless sleep for only 20-30 minutes. Needless to say the lack of sleep only added to his discomfort and therefore kept him quite grumpy.
Well, Sunday I decided that the medicine wasn't make enough of a difference to keep him on it. He has now been off the medication for almost 3 days and has been napping like you wouldn't believe. He has also had less vomiting episodes and has been a much more pleasant baby. I now get several hours a day with a smiley boy rather than all day with a screaming, tired, uncomfortable one. I hope these changes are here to stay and hope that he will continue to get better and outgrow this horrible reflux.
I also wanted to mention that even though he has been hard during the day he has at least given us some relief at night. For the last 3 weeks or so he as only been waking up once a night. We will give him his last feeding between 10:00-10:30 then put him to bed and he will sleep until 4:00-5:00 then back to sleep until about 7:30. It has been wonderful.

Sorry for the long and semi-boring post, but I still wanted to document it. Oh, and we finally got our new camera so get ready for tons of pics!

I Guess Not

I had to walk to class in the SNOW today. Needless to say it put me in a foul mood. If you could see me right now you would see one sour face.

However, Miles is half a sleep and making the sweetest cooing sounds. Which helped me smile my frown away. What a sweet boy.

Welcome Spring!

ARE YOU HERE TO STAY?

I have been waiting for this day with great anticipation. I will be the first to admit that I loathe winter. However, bringing Miles home in January has made this winter a littler more tolerable. The early months went by fast because we were anxiously awaiting his birth and these last few months have flown by because I have been so busy with Miles & school.

Today I put Miles in the Baby Bjorn and we went on a nice long walk - he was fast asleep in about 5 minutes. It felt so nice to finally leave my prison (I mean home) and soak u
p some rays. After our walk I had to go to the bank and then I decided we should take the long way home, so we went for a drive up the canyon. I think he was awake cause he was making all kinds of noises (happy noises, not grumpy noises for once), but I can't be sure. As we past first dam, the nature trail, and all the campgrounds I got all excited. I kept picturing in my mind all the fun times we will have next summer. Feeding the ducks, going on adventures, feeling the grass, playing tag/chase...oh, I can't wait!

Just as a side note, Miles absolutely loves his bink but he can't for the life of him figure out how to keep it in his mouth for more than a minute. Which means we get to play the, "I'll spit it out you put it back in" game a lot. Its a really fun game :).

My New Best Friend

I have to start by saying thanks to my cousin Michelle for suggesting this. Most of you know that Miles has been quite fussy the last few weeks. Well Last week at his baby blessing Michelle told me to bounce with him on my exercise ball. At first I honestly thought, "ya sure like that will work, nothing else has." But alas, since nothing else had worked I decided it was worth a shot, so I pulled it out this past weekend and found that it works like a charm! I was also pleased to find that it didn't just work the one time, it has worked every time I need it to. If I can't get him to stop crying and when feeding and changing him don't work I just bounce away and he quiets right down. Needless to say it has been a LIFE SAVER - especially on the days I am home alone all day with a screaming baby.

I have some funny video of us bouncing that I will post later.

Thanks again Michelle!!

Blessing Day

Miles was blessed on Sunday, March 1, 2009

I am so greatful for temple ordinances and the the knowledge that my little family can be together forever. I am also greatful for a husband that is a worthy preisthood holder and that he could bless our baby on this special day.
