PHEW

Miles' pediatrician called yesterday with the CT results. Everything is normal! His sutures are growing together just fine. The doc said we could have him fitted for a helmet if we thought we needed to, but I don't really think we need to. For now we will just watch him and continue to be grateful that he is healthy.

4 Months

As of yesterday my baby is 4 months old. I know what you're thinking, "seriously, four months? Can it truly already have been four months? What have I done with my time, are you sure its really been four months?" The answer to those questions is, YES it really has been four months!

We took him to his 4 month well check today and the poor little guy had to get his second round of immunization shots. He is such a strong little guy and took it like a champ, only cried for a minute or two and then zonked. I of course joined in him shedding a few tears - I hate the way he looks at me when they jab the needles in. It is a look of pure confusions, as if he's saying, "What! why? What was that sting and why did you let them do it!?"

He is getting so big and wants to grow up so fast. He tries to sit up every chance he gets, loves to stand up and use his legs, tries ever so hard to roll over from back to belly, giggles - well, more like all out laughs at so many things now, shakes his rattle all by himself, and looks at us like a begging puppy when we eat.
He has been a pretty happy boy lately and nothing brightens my day more than one of his smiles and/or laughs. He is so much more responsive, which makes it so fun to play with him. I still have to dig deep for patience every now and then, but I love him more than words can express. I finally understand the meaning of true love.

HOW MUCH CAN ONE LITTLE GUY TAKE?

If you look back over my past posts you will see that poor little Miles has had to endure some pretty crappy stuff. Well, unfortunately it's not over. Here's a recap and the new addition...

1. 1 month old: Yeast bum rash (requiring an Rx)
2. 1 month - present: Reflux (requiring an Rx)
3. ~4 months: Sinus infection & bronchitis (requiring an Rx)
4. 4 months: CT scan

At his appointment today our pediatrician was feeling Miles' skull to make sure things were "fusing" or "closing" correctly. He paused for a little while, rechecked and then told us that there is a chance that the bones may be closing prematurely...which resulted in us scheduling a CT scan for tomorrow.

We are both, needless to say, terrified! I hope that it is just a precautionary thing and that everything is fine. I'm not even sure what comes next if there is something wrong, right now I am just trying to prep myself for tomorrow. I don't even know what to expect - I don't even know if I'll get to be with him the whole time.

Those of you that read this before 2:30 pm tomorrow, please pray for our little family, especially Miles.

Sinus Infection, Bronchitis, & Antibiotics

Yesterday Miles had a fever of 100.3 so I decided it was time to take him to the doctor and I'm glad I did. After checking his throat, nose, and listening to his lungs the doc quickly diagnosed him with, "gunk in his lungs and nose"...AKA sinus infection & bronchitis. I was sad to hear the news, but glad that he was able to give us an Rx for antibiotics; at least I felt like there was something I could do to help.
He's still a little on the grumpy side, but at least he'll let me put him down today and last night he only woke up once instead of 5 times.
Thanks for all the advice. We used it all!

An Unfortunate First

This will be another semi-boring post, but being a first I wanted to document it.

Yesterday I noticed that Miles' spit up was a little more mucusy than normal and that he sounded a little raspy. Well, when he woke up this morning he had a horrible cough and when he talks it sounds more like a growl than a coo. He has kept a pretty good disposition, but has been grumpier than normal and hasn't napped well at all. Luckily there is no fever or weazing, which brings a little comfort.
I called the ped office and they said there is nothing to do for kids as young as Miles, just wait and see if it gets worse. That is just down right mean advice for a new mom :(.

If any of you seasoned mothers have any helpful hints please send them my way.

First Photo Shoot

Yesterday we took Miles to get his picture taken. I personally think he looks adorable, even with that bald spot.
