As time goes on I'm realizing more and more how much I really love the fall season. The vibrant colors of leaves changing, the cool breezes that drive away the hot sting of summer, the sweaters, boots, and earth tones of fall fashions, our anniversary, and...nope, I can't say it, Halloween just doesn't make the list.
Halloween is definitely not my favorite holiday. I'm not sure if it's the costumes, the blood and gore, or the over all let's make things as dark and scary as possible concept surrounding it; either way I'm not usually a fan.
If you remember from our 2010 Halloween post (found here ) Miles isn't the biggest fan of the whole Halloween/costumes thing either. Since no one in our family seemed to appreciate much about Halloween I decided that we should try to make it a little more fun this year. So we thought it would be fun to introduce Miles to pumpkin decorating/carvings.
I found this cute Mr. Pumpkin Head set at target and thought it looked like fun.
Here is Miles with all our supplies.
Miles loved sticking the pieces on.
Miles is so proud of his "sunny puntin head".
Do you notice anything strange about his ears?
A few days later we decided that we would try our hands at
actually carving a pumpkin. We waited til Daddy was home and
could help supervise the use of sharp objects.
(Don't worry we bought a kids carving set that came with
a dull serrated carving tool-we're not completely irresponsible)
Miles liked the idea of scooping out the "guts".
Until it got on his hands.
Then he just wanted to watch Daddy do it
cause it was, itty (icky).
Here's a glamorous shot of me tracing the outline.
Try not to be jealous. I told Gabe we shouldn't post pictures
of me looking so hot.
Miles needed to help me get the eyes just right.
At last our pumpkin heads were done and now
sit happily on our doorstep.
The big one reminds me of the Peanut M&M from all the
M&M commercials. Haha, makes me laugh.
