In an earlier post I warned you all that I was going to post pictures from the fruit & veggie fairs that we had to plan this semester. Well here they are...and let me tell you there are a lot! We had tons of fun.
Our theme this year was "The Fruit & Veggie Network" based off the Food Network.
We had the following six "shows" (booths)...
1. Tasty Travels - taught the children about exotic fruits found in the islands.
2. Good Eats - taught the children about basic food science, i.e. why apples turn brown and how to prevent it.
3. Iron Chef (my booth) - We gave the children clues and had them guess the "secret" fruit/vegetable. The two winners got to compete in a game with that fruit/vegetable. Basically we taught them how to play and have fun with food.
4. 30 second snacks (instead of 30 minute meals) - just like it sounds - taught children & parents how to prepare healthy snacks in a hurry.
5. Unpeeled (in place of unwrapped) - taught the children how fruits/vegetables are farmed, harvested, transported, and eventually end up on their plates.
6. The Hungry Detectives - taught the children about a variety of uncommon fruits and vegetables.
