Adventures in Potty Training: Part 2

Miles is doing so great with the whole potty business. We are about 2 weeks in and have have very few accidents. We still struggle with the poop part, but it's getting better. We are still dependent on pull-ups at sleep times, but I figure that can be tackled down the road a bit.

Potty training is no picnic, but here are a few things I've learned;

1. There's no rush. The only person you're racing is yourself.
2. It's important for the kid to be ready, but realizing when you and your
spouse are ready to take on the challenge is just as important.
3. No one way is going to work for every child. Find a groove that works for you
and stick to it. Asking how different people accomplish the task is great
for getting ideas, but doesn't mean they're the only ways to get it done.
4. Trips/Outings take a little extra planning; change of clothes, making sure there's
a potty where you're headed, trips to the potty before you leave (even if that means
hiking back up three flights of stairs after you've already got everyone buckled in).
5. If ever you needed patience in your life it's during potty training.
Try to remember that they're learning something new, something tricky,
and something inconvenient to continuous play time; cut them (and yourself) some slack.

I love this advice, not that I am potty training, but this is a great list for when I am. :) Great job Sarah!
