Lets start at the beginning...
On his second birthday Miles was the proud recipient
of his very own potty. We were very excited to
dive in and start the potty training game.
Then Mommy & Daddy got new jobs and we moved to SLC.
After that we lost our momentum.
Every couple of months or so I would tell myself,
"okay, Sarah, lets do this thing!"
But after a few conversations like this...
Me: Miles, do you need to go peepee?
Miles: Nope.
Me: When you feel the peepee coming
tell Mommy and we'll run to the potty.
Miles: Otay
20 second time lapse
Miles: I peepeed
and subsequently scrubbing the floor, the couch, and doing 20 bazillion loads of laundry
I would give up hope and ultimately decide that diapers are SO much easier.
We would occasionally have naked time, during which it was
discovered that Miles really could tell when he had to go peepee.
He would do so awesome when he was naked. You'd think he was peeing in the
potty all along. But alas, as soon as there were pants on that little bum of his
he instantly lost control of his bladder and was peeing all over the place.
AHHH. So we kept up with the diapers.
Needless to say, I was probably confusing the poor kid.
Well, last weekend I decided it was time. Time to really tackle this
terrible, awful thing called potty training. I decided that the only way
to do it was to quit diapers cold turkey. So we woke up on Wednesday
and said we wear big boy pants and peepee in the potty. The diapers have gone bye-bye (the plan was diapers only at sleep times since he still wakes up wet).
Miles was sick on Wednesday, so our plan was delayed until Thursday,
but it seemed to work. We only had two accidents all day and he
even went poopoo in the potty twice. Success (well the early signs of it anyway)!
Then night-time rolled around.
We put him in a diaper in case of any accidents, did the normal routine, and had him
in bed by 8:00 pm. Things were looking good. Then 10 min later I heard...
"Mommy I need to go peepee!"
Well, after a full day of telling him we don't peepee in our pants I couldn't go
marching in there and say, "it's bed time just peepee in your diaper and go to sleep."
So I took him peepee and put him back to bed. Ten minutes later I heard...
"Mommy I need to go peepee!"
This went on until about 10:30! I didn't know what to do.
So at 10:30 I took him to the potty again and told him that we put on a diaper to catch the peepee and he needed to just go to sleep and not worry about it. That's when he said,
"I tan't peepee in my pants. It will get in my bed and be all yutty."
I was at a loss, so after a little chuckle I gave in and rocked him to sleep.
I thought that was the end of it, but then at 4:13 am I heard...
"Mommy, I have to go peepee!!"
So we went peepee and I rocked him back to sleep.
can we say nightmare!?!
Has anyone else run into this issue while potty training?
Have I totally reversed all the sleep training I did two-and-a-half years ago?
Help!?!

On a positive note; he woke up dry and he is such a pro at potty time
that my assistance is no longer needed. He's pulling down his pants all by
himself and telling me he doesn't need my help.
what a big boy!
Now it's just the night-time issues.

Oh boy...that is a tough one. I feel your pain! I think that potty training is absolutely the WORST part of motherhood! I don't know how to solve the night time issues, as my little Owen is still in a diaper at night so apparently, I am not very good at that part! With Bryson, all it took was him peeing the bed once and he would just get up and go potty by himself. Owen on the other hand will pee the bed and then come and get me to change him...thus the reason he is still in the diaper. Sorry I am no help! If you get a good answer...I would love to hear it too!!
I feel your pain!! Eden has totally reverted on the pooping end, so I am no potty training expert, but from my perspective that getting up to pee is pretty dang cute and awesome that he caught on that fast. Just remember that this is only a phase and this is how you are serving him right now. Think of it as Mommy service and before you know it, it will be over.
Also, I would try and cut out any liquid in his diet after dinner time. I don't know if it will help but it's worth a try. I haven't had that problem yet as both my kids have just potty trained themselves for the night time part after we did te daytime part. Hang in there!! Good luck!! At least you aren't having poop smeared all over your bathroom....
Way to go Miles!!! And way to go Sarah!
