Miles' Journey...

Finally our sweet baby boy has entered the world. He was born on Monday January 26 at 6:25 pm. Now, a week later I thought I would post some pictures and tell the story of how Miles made his debut.

8:3o am - I had a doctors appointment where we learned that I still hadn't dilated past a centimeter so my doctor took pity on us and decided to send us up to labor and delivery.
9:00 am - my petocin drip was started.
11:30 am - turns out I am very sensitive to petocin and by the time they had me at 6 units/min my contractions were too strong and too close for Miles' comfort. His heart rate dropped to 68 bpm (needless to say mine started racing) so they put me on oxygen and called Dr. McCulloch to come break my water. After my water was broken they decided to monitor the baby internally so they could assess my contractions more accurately. They reduced my petocin drip to 2 units/min and his heart rate quickly responded (sigh of relief).
1:30 pm - things have started moving along, I had dilated to a 3!
3:30 pm - things started moving really fast from here. By this time I was dilated to a 6 and started having contractions that were strong enough to make the epidural less terrifying.
5:20 pm - decided that I couldn't handle the contractions anymore and asked for an epidural (which was not near as bad as I thought it would be).
5:40 pm - dilated to a 10 and ready to push - the pressure was incredible. From here on out my time was spent pushing.
6:25 pm - Miles Gabriel entered the world!
